Zombie Cocktail aka “Blood in the Water” for the “Fear the Walking Dead” Season 2 Premiere

The second season of “Fear the Walking Dead” is tomorrow night! I am getting this out late but better late than never. I imagine if you were on the ‘Abigail’ this is what you would be drinking! (Update: We stopped watching this season after the first couple of episodes; it was that bad. If you are toughing it out we ‘salud’ you!)

For this drink you will need your personal taste of:

1.5 oz of Blueberry Vodka
0.5 to 1 oz of Blue Curacao
Lemon-Lime Soda (or tonic for less sweet)
Grenadine or Raspberry Syrup (Raspberry Syrup works best)                                                                       (For non-alcoholic version Blue Gatorade and/or blue Hawaiian Punch OR blue food dye)
Chilled Glasses and Ice

First add the Vodka…

Next, add the Blue Curacao and top off with your choice of lemon-lime soda or tonic water. For non-alcoholic version leave out alcohol and add your choice of blue gatorade/punch, or blue food dye to lemon-lime soda.

Finally, add Grenadine or Raspberry syrup for effect…

Zombie PUNCH!

Zombiepunch2013

aka Dead Man’s Hand Punch (serves 8 adults)

I had not intended to make this post but it is threatening rain and I had to make a back-up plan to trick-or-treating for the kids.  When we have a Halloween party I make this punch. This would also be great served at a Walking Dead party.

Update 02/06/14:

With the Walking Dead premiere this Sunday, I thought I would add an additional Jello hand version of this punch. You will need to prep the hand 2 days ahead of time:

You will need:
1 Nitrile Glove rinsed several times
1-2 thick rubber bands
1 2 liter of lemon-lime soda
1 can of Lime-ade frozen concentrate
1 16 oz bag of frozen Raspberries
2 bags of Gummy Worms
1 pitcher or punch bowl
(Jello version: 1 packet of Cherry, Lime Jello or flavor/color of choice)
Zombiehand

(Jello Version: prep jello per package instructions and add to the finger portion of gloves, add whatever frozen fruit you prefer, seal glove by wrapping rubber band around opening and set in fridge in whatever position works best for effect.  Let set overnight. Then on second day follow directions below. Set in freezer overnight)

Take rinsed glove and add 2-3 tablespoons of frozen limeade.

  • Add lemon-lime soda until glove is 1/3 full.
  • Next, add the raspberries working them into the fingers.  The more raspberries, the more gory it looks!
  • Add a couple of worms, more raspberries and limeade, until you only have half of the can left.
  • Add water until glove is 3/4 full.
  • Tie glove or wrap a rubber band around opening several times.
  • Set in bowl upright so fingers are bent.
  • Allow to freeze for at least 3-4 hours or overnight
When it is party time prep:
ZPlimeade

Mix remaining limeade with lemon-lime pop.

ZPlimeraz

add raspberries

ZPlimerazworms

Chill until you are ready to add hand.

frozenhand

Remove hand from glove by carefully cutting it away and carefully add to punch.

ZOMBIEPUNCH

Your hand may or may not be intact.  It doesn’t really matter because ZOMBIES are rarely intact!  If you want a more solid hand then add more berries.  Feel free to add blackberries and blueberries to the mix.

deadmanshandpunch

If this is an adult party, feel free to add Tequila, Vodka, or Rum. YUM! If you prefer more of an adult cocktail you can make my ‘Zombie Cocktail’ aka ‘Blood in the Water’.

Have a Happy (fun and safe) Halloween!
